This month, we caught up with Christina Boesler between workout classes and influencer events! Let’s spend some time getting to know Christina and learn how she balances her life as FitCityBlonde Co-Founder and full-time recruiter for a public accounting firm.
What got you started living a healthy/fitness lifestyle?
To be completely honest, I didn’t really think twice about health and fitness until post-college when I found myself sitting behind a desk for hours at end. This transition lead me to pay more attention to how I was taking care of my body – specifically with fueling and exercise. Eli, Jeannie, and I found that navigating the “twenty-something” years, specifically balance, wasn’t easy and no one really seemed to know what they were doing. We launched FitCityBlonde with the goal of motivating and providing young women with a realistic source for all things related to fitness, food, health, and life in general, across the country. Eli handles the scene in SanFran while Jeannie and I cover Chicago.
I am so obsessed with scrunchies – I don’t usually buy into fashion trends, but this was the greatest 90s comeback, am I right?!
What do you have way too much of in your closet?
I hate to admit this, but I have WAY too much athleisure. The worst part is, I probably only actively wear 10% of it. My semi-annual closet purge is on the agenda for some time in the next month!
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
My fellow FitCityBlonde co-founders, Eli & Jeannie, are two of the most inspiring individuals I have ever met – talk about girl bosses. They both are crushing their corporate jobs while staying true to themselves and following their passions in the health & fitness world. Talk about balance – they’ve really figured it out. Personality-wise, all three of us are so different, which makes things fun – I learn so much from them. I truly can’t imagine being on this journey with anyone else!
If you could live anywhere where would it be?
My favorite place in the world is Switzerland. It is such a gorgeous place and the people and food are amazing. It is no surprise that the quality of life is as high as it is. I would move there in a heartbeat…maybe one day.
Is your glass half full or half empty?
Half full for sure, and usually filled with sparkling water and lemon or some sort of tequila cocktail!
Who is your role model and why?
My mom – she is such an incredible woman! She is so kind and genuine and has a way of bringing out the best in everyone. She is such a positive blessing in life and #1 FitCityBlonde fan (tied with two other amazing mamas!) I just think moms are so great, in general. How they are so wise is beyond me!
What is your favorite food to indulge in?
I am a HUGE foodie. I love checking out new restaurants. If I had to pick a favorite… I love French food – specifically croissants! If it’s filled with chocolate, that’s an added bonus.
Are you currently reading any books? Which is your favorite?
I am a huge book nerd – my New Year’s resolution was to read a new book each month, and as of Mid-March, I’ve already read seven. I recently read The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo (in 24 hours) and it was an excellent page-turner. I highly recommend!
Do you prefer cardio or weight training?
I love cardio more than anything – specifically walking. I will walk anywhere in any weather conditions (Chicago always keeps me on myself toes re: weather) if I have the time. My current go-to workout is solidcore which recently opened in Chicago. It is megaformer pilates on steroids. I try to go at least twice as a week — Jeannie and I have a Friday morning ritual of hitting the studio together before work! (Check out [solidcore] and book your spot here using the code FITCITYBLONDE for $5 off a new member 2-class pack.)
What are you most thankful for?
My #FitCityFamily. As the fitness community has grown immensely over the past few years, I have met some of the most amazing individuals through social media, workout classes, and influencer events. I used to be pretty shy, but now I will go out of my way to meet new people and it’s crazy how many people are equally open to making new friends.
Do you have any tips/tricks to avoid missing a workout?
Find a #girlgang that constantly motivates and inspires you. All it takes is a simple “should I go workout?” text to a member of mine and I am immediately given motivation and encouragement to go get a sweat session in. Women supporting women is key – and having friends that inspire you to be your best self is so priceless.
What are your goals for 2018?
To continue trusting the Universe – sounds cliche, but 2017 was a huge growing year for me… I learned that everything truly happens for a reason, and it is important to let doors close and open when/where they’re supposed to. It’s so easy to resist life when things don’t go according to your plan, but something beautiful is always waiting on the other side. I believe that there is a time and season for everything, and it is important to embrace the one that you’re currently in.
